Our story

Thraahi’s founders came in to connect with the weaver’s community during covid and that’s when they saw how the weaver’s community in a small town in chinnalempet, in Tamil Nadu was struggling to meet their ends meet as their business was shattered. Coming from a generation of weavers, they had no education, they did not get an opportunity, or they had the financial strength to get one – All they acquired was the valuable skill of weaving sarees.   But they realized that despite being skillful, it is very critical to be educated.   Hence, amidst their own personal struggles and times of despair, they were so determined to give their kids the education they all deserve so that when these kids grow up, they feel independent and empowered.
This inspired the founders to come up with an initiative that would make people feel supported, give them an opportunity for learning, and make people feel empowered and self-reliant so that their lives get better.  Thus Thraahi was formed.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build such a community where every child feels empowered by giving them a fair and equal opportunity to go to school, study, learn and acquire the basic knowledge and learning they are entitled.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support and promote the education of children by extending necessary monetary and non-monetary help and support to deserving students, through inclusive partnerships with individuals and communities.

Our Core Values

Transparency:  ” Seeing is Believing” it is said.  Thraahi Foundation firmly believes that every person who comes forward to support its cause has a right to know how the funds and support extended by him/ her have been utilized.  We encourage a very transparent atmosphere, and the donors can connect with the students they support at any point in time to monitor their progress.   This also would give them emotional and psychological satisfaction to see for themselves firsthand how the support they have extended has gone a long way to positively transform the life of a child.

Trust:  Thraahi receives donations which are primarily used to support deserving students.  This shows the amount of trust our partners and donors have in us.   Hence, to Thraahi, this core value of Trust is very important.  We strive hard to keep up the trust our partners and donors have in us.  Each student’s background, family income, and school verification are carefully evaluated personally by the volunteers of the Thraahi team. The person is added to the list of possible beneficiaries only once their background has been verified and the necessary documentation completed.

Integrity:  At Thraahi we do realize that when partners and supporters trust us with their hard-earned money with a noble intention to do something good, the responsibility is on us to act with integrity.  All our volunteers are sensitized about this aspect that guides us along our journey to make a small impact in society.

Empathy:  Kindness and empathy guide us through our journey and in our path to achieve our vision of a community where no child is deprived of education.  We understand how parents feel helpless when they are unable to support their children’s dreams to go to school or college and become independent.  At Thraahi, we aim to create an environment where people feel they are heard and supported when it comes to getting the education they rightfully deserve.

Why Trust Thraahi

At Thraahi, we carefully select the beneficiaries after detailed background verification and checking.  The volunteers personally go through the documents and the records of the deserving students and only then take up the request for consideration.  Also, in the case of financial support, we ensure that the funds are transferred directly to the educational institutions thereby ensuring the goal of extending support for educational purposes is not diluted.
